Annotations improvement

Gareth Bennie 3 months ago updated by Amelia Ross 2 weeks ago 7

Something we’re really struggling with (marketers as well as artworkers) is annotations. It’s very difficult to see which comment down the right-hand side relates to which annotation as the selected one is just a touch brighter than the others:

Is there anything we can do to make them clearer? Increase the size of the selected one? Make it a different colour? Both?

Hi Gareth.  I did get some feedback from UX; in addition to the changes to the way the Comments Card is "focused" we will add a 2-sec pulsing circle around the icon associated with the annotation as shown below.  Do you think this would be helpful?

Thanks, I will get some input from UX about how to make the annotation/icon on the canvas "pop" as well so we can do them together.

Hi folks, the below looks great. It would be good if the active annotation on the canvas was clearer too. Thanks

Gareth, I was reviewing this with Eric and he suggested the icons on the canvas are also sometimes not clear.  Are you looking for improvements for the active annotation on canvas as well?

Hi Gareth,

The UX team has suggested that we have three different statuses:  default, hover and selected as shown below.  What are your thoughts?

Hi Gareth, I will consult with our UX team to understand how we can make the active annotation "pop" more and I will update this thread.

Hi Gareth,

We can look at options to help make the distinction clearer.  However, I want to make sure you know about an existing feature that may help with this.

Currently, in the annotation viewer on the top toolbar there is a master "show/hide" button.

When you click on this button it will hide ALL the annotations in the document EXCEPT the one you have selected in the list on the left.  So if your users use this button to hide all annotations and then as they select an item on the left side the annotation viewer will show ONLY that one item and will even jump to that item in the file if it is on another page.

Might be a good tip for your users.
