an API option to be able to directly access the primary file behind a Record

A request from a Client, who would like to be able to send the master file to a CDN or file store directly use an API option to be able to directly access the primary file behind a Record. There are ways to accomplish this, but they are more convoluted than we would ideally like . . .

Hi Doug, when extracting a file from the DAM, you will always need to extract it as an order. This is for security reasons. We have no plans to change this.

Hello, Nicolas. Apologies for delay, it's been a very busy two weeks. I'm a little confused by your question. We need to get a file out of DAM and into a CDN. Really, the exact use case that you have for the new Akamai connector (Tarun gave us an overview of that a couple of weeks ago. We would love to use it, but the Client wants to use MS Azure CDN, and the release dates for the new Akamai connector are pretty tight as regards our timelines). Does this help? If not, can you be more specific about what info you need? I'm happy to set up a call with our developer on the project if that would assist. Thank you!

We avoid giving direct access to the files for security and auditing reasons.

However, if you order a single file with order actions, you will get a secured direct link to the asset.

There's also a new feature coming out very soon to allow pushing assets to a public (Akamai) CDN.

Can you please elaborate on the use case why the client would need direct access to the files?
