Ability to trans-code various file types

The system must have a robust engine for transcoding files, including resizing in TIFF format and the ability to turn AI files into PDFs and JPEGs. Full support OOTB to transcode PSDs, EPS, AI, TIFF, PNG, GIF, PDF, Office files, MOV, MP4, MPEG2, WAV, MP3, AIFF is needed. Ability OOTB to resize and transcode any supported image file (incl. vector, layered PSDs, and AI) into a TIFF, JPEG, GIF, and PNG, is also needed. Currently, images may only be transcoded into JPEGs and PNGs. These should all be available in the Download Resized menu.

The label graphics side of the business needs transcoding functionality that is similar to that in Photoshop in order to make the system useful, and in order to prevent the company from having to buy exponentially more seats in Photoshop. Without the ability to transcode as we need, the system will need to store multiple file formats of the same thing, which is not scalable and is challenging to maintain and keep everything up-to-date.

File Types

Most of the file conversions have been delivered during the last DAM releases. I will close this as done. If you are still missing one, then please make a separate voice request for it.

I have noticed that transparency is not kept. the transcoding is flattening all files

Not all file types can support transparencies, hence they will be flattened.

I advise to log a snow ticket so that we can look at the specifics (from what format to what format)

Ideally, in addition to the request, It would be good to have a flexibility that converts an image gives ability to resize during the download. Resizing should be defined by end user not by a preset.

The blue cells are planned. According to current planning we estimate this will be available August time frame.

All the yellow ones with black text = your high prio is also being worked on over summer.

Can you please log the 3 light yellow with red text as separate asks so that people can vote for these separately. Thanks.

What we are looking for Aprimo to enable are in light yellow with red text and the blue cells.

AI - > PSD (with layers preserved)

EPS -> PSD  (with layers preserved)

The rest we know that either they are already in DAM SaaS or shortly they will be available.

This is a very generic ask. Any file format to any transcoding  is probably too generic. But a lot of new file conversion options are going to be added over the next period of time.

However, specific conversions possible on the desktop may not all be possible through generic engines, so replacing Photoshop workstations may not be so easy as it sounds.
