ADAM could support connecting to SMTP server that requires SSL or TSL

Michal Rutrich 7 years ago in ADAM Core updated by Joris Wynendaele 3 years ago 0

Currently if you configure ADAM to connect to SMTP server that requires SSL or TSL you get an exception when ADAM tries to send a mail (e.g. when you reset user's password and check notify user):

System.InvalidOperationException: An error occured attempting to send an e-mail. ---> System.Net.Mail.SmtpException: The SMTP server requires a secure connection or the client was not authenticated. The server response was: 5.7.0 Must issue a STARTTLS command first. n42sm10103332eeh.15 - gsmtp

If you try to specify host name with a prefix "ssl://" you'll get error that host name was not recognized.

So my idea is to support secure connection via ssl or tsl.

Hi Michal,

I posted a workaround for this a while ago.

Please have a look at https://support.adamsoftware.net/entries/25044363-Using-Amazon-Simple-Email-Service-Amazon-SES-for-sending-emails and let me know if this solution works for you.

Best regards,

Joris
